With over twenty years of clinical experience, Dr. YanQiu He currently runs a private practice in Bethesda, Maryland offering Acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine and comprehensive patient consultation services. She is a licensed acupuncturist in the state of Maryland, and holds national board certifications in both Acupuncture and Chinese Herbs.
Dr. He holds a medical degree from Beijing University of Chinese Medicine and Pharmacology with a medical specialty in internal medicine. After graduation, she taught at the medical school while serving on-staff as an affiliate hospital physician for seven years.
In her early career, she was fortunate to spend three years as a student of Dr. Zhao-Shaoqin and learned the classic style of medicine practiced in the Court of the Emperor. Dr. Zhao was the son of Zhao-Wenkui, the formal physician of the last Emperor.
After arriving in the United States in 1995, Dr. He participated in the founding of the Institute of Chinese Medicine. Soon after, she joined the practice of Dr. Leonard Wisneski, a health care center which provided clinical care integrating conventional, complementary, and alternative medicine. In 1999, Dr. He became a full-time clinician with Suburban Hospital Healthcare System for several years, working closely with physicians and other practitioners as a team. During that period, Dr. He spent part of her clinical hours at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) as a member of the Pain and Palliative Care group, conducting acupuncture for patients in a variety of studies.
Dr. He sees her clinical role as three-fold. She treats the presenting illness, facilitates and instructs her patients in self-healing, and closely coordinates patient care with the other professionals on the patient's healing team.
She is committed to the philosophy of treating each patient holistically throughout the healing process.
